Different golf courses have different attire rules. Of course, it is preferable to wear athletic clothes. Most importantly, you should be wearing something where you will be comfortable enough to swing a golf club.
For Men: Some courses allow mock neck shirts but a collared one is ideal. You can wear pants or shorts as long as they are a specific length, as per course regulations. You can wear golf shoes without metal spikes or athletic shoes with a good grip. A billed hat without a logo is an excellent style statement and saves your face from sunlight. And the shade from the cap will help you to follow the golf ball.
For Women: Women golfers can wear collared shirts; knee-length skirts, skorts, shorts or pants; along with golf shoes. For layering up, golf jackets, sweaters, vests, and pullovers are recommended.
